What a Mean Dad! Oh, and What a Mean Mom, too!

Here is a note from Eva that she wrote to her dad when she was not happy with him for sending her to her room. Kerry is her hero, so she must have really been mad this day!

Dad,
You have ben men (mean) to us sens we were born. Wen you get in the hot tub we won't. From Eva and Ethan
***************************************************************************
About the same time I found that note, Ethan had just been put into time-out for throwing a fit about having to pay me a dime for the toys he left out. (This is dollar store money, so it is a big deal ) He got out of time out, went to his room and came back out with a note that he stuck to his door. It was a picture of a stick figure with long hair (mom) and a big X across it. He even made sure to sign it and told me that this was to let me know that I could NOT ever come in his room!!

He must have got that idea from his older sister who just recently taped a note to her door that said,
"No mom allowed. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha"
Well, this is all starting to remind me of a song I like to sing. It goes like this:
"There is beauty all around. When there's love at home. There is joy in every sound, When there's love at home. Peace and plenty here abide, smiling sweet on every side.Time doth softly sweetly glide, when there's love at home. Love at home. Love at home. Time doth softly sweetly glide, when there's love at home."
Yup. That's us!

Cheap Fun for the kiddos

This is a clip of a game Eva and Ethan learned from one of the young women in our ward. They love it! The only way this game ends is when someone gets hurt, like Becks doing a nice wipeout at the end!

Through the eyes of a 5 year old

So yesterday my dear friend Emily watched Ethan and Beckham for me while I got some shopping done. (It was glorious!!!) When I picked them up she told me something that Ethan had said to her, and she just had to pass this one along to me! (I was worried it was going to be a swear word, but no.......)
Ethan said to her, "I can't wait until Eva is a mom." Emily asked, "Why is that?" Ethan replies, " Then she can be my SERVANT!"

"What?!!!" was all I could say dumbfounded. What kind of a kingdom does he think he lives in!!!! Well the real nugget of truth here is that it made me realize how he views me... As his own personal servant!!!! I think we need to make some changes in how things run at home - wow. The parent of the year award just slipped away from me.....AGAIN!

So I sked him in the car, "Emily told me you thought that when Eva is a mom that she would be your servant. Do you think I am your servant?! " "yes" he says. "What? you REALLY think that?" I said. After giving it some serious consideration, he said, "Actually. I am YOUR servant because you make me do chores!!"

Oh boy.

Beckham's Art

We have quite the little Monet at our house. Please see the following works of art done on our walls by our 22 month old prodigy. The medium he prefers to use is washable markers, but he also has dabbled in mascara, lipstick, toothpaste and lipgloss. He AND the artwork will be up for auction on Saturday. All proceeds will go to the CraZ MOMMA foundation.

Beckham has a pretty good routine going for him. Destroy, be cute, Destroy, be extra cute, Destroy, hide from mom, take a nap, Destroy. This is what we do all day long and then all day long the next day. He is a machine!!! I'm telling you, this kid has a gift. In the last few months I've seen my house look like a wrecking ball has gone through it. You know when a family moves out of a house and the new family moves in and doesn't take care of things as well as the previous owner? And everyone in the neighborhood drives by and says, "Oh boy. They've sure let that house go. Hey, is that a car parked on their front lawn?" Well, that is what I kind of feel like lately if someone were to walk through my house, only nobody new has moved in....it's still us!! I have to say it's quite impressive the amount of creative chaos he can come up with. I can't keep up with this kid!! Short of locking him in a closet, this all happens when I am either trying to get ready, get dinner, do homework with kids or clean up his last little project. He actually did his face very well with my mascara in this last photo. Almost looks like a cute little kitten.... Don't fall for it!!!!! All this being said, I absolutely melt each day when he wakes up and says, 'Mama' and cuddles with me. I get a kick out of him - he is a great little addition to our family, and Eva and Ethan absolutely adore him. . He is really so much fun and a total mama's boy. If they could just stay little...

Here Goes!

It is almost midnight, and after a little gentle prodding from a friend, (thanks Jill!) I have decided (yes, I MADE a decision.......all by myself...) to CREATE A FAMILY BLOG!!!! Wow , you say. Congratulations, and Welcome to the wonderful world of technology!!
Truth be told, I'm a litte afraid to actually see my life in print. I also am not sure I can remember the events of the days or even what day it is, but that should just add to all of the fun, right? That's what I'm here for. Cheap entertainment!
Actually, I am really excited to finally get this going - Life is good. I have so much to be grateful for. Real friends who improve my life. Incredible and supportive family. I adore my kids and my hubby, so it will be fun to write about them all! (I've got so much dirt on them!!) I am constantly feeling like I am in training from my family and wonder why I am so far behind - they teach me things about myself that I couldn't learn anywhere else. It really is the perfect institution.
So, A Toast - To family and friends! We love reading about how the rest of you are doing and the fun/ crazy days you have. We love you all! Wish us luck in this grand endeavor!
