Yea for smelly, dirty socks and muddy little boys!

Spring has finally sprung - I love this time of year when everything seems to be given a new life. We did have a great winter - lots of snow, amazing skiing and time to bunker down at home and enjoy just being home, but it seems like just when you are starting to get a litte tired of the blah surroundings, Spring fever hits! I love Utah weather - all 4 seasons appeal to me in one way or another, and I look forward to each one.

The kids just started school again today - they have been out for spring break since last week - Thurs, Fri, and then Mon, and Tues of this week. We've had a lot of activity and go go go, Jewelia and Lori and I had a lot of fun together with the kids...They are awesome moms.

We had a fun week- along with all the Easter celebrations, we were able to go out for lunch, catch Horton Hears a Who and played at the Castle Park with all of the rest of the Davis County mom's and kids. If you haven't seen the new Dr. Seuss movie, go see it! Horton Hears a Who. I loved the book - it has a great message in it. I laughed, I cried.....great show!

However - the very best part of the last few days is that my boys all were completely exhausted, ready to go to bed on their own, and had smelly, dirty socks and dried mud all over their bodies from playing OUTSIDE at the park. Yea for spring! But beware - Apparantly if you go to the castle park on Nichols road, watch out for CROCODILES IN THE SWAMP!! Ethan and his friends ventured down the trails to the little creek and Ethan swears on his 5 long years of life that he saw a crocodiles body in the creek. CRIKEY!!!!!!! Luckily, its head was underwater so he didn't spot Ethan. But the next tasty little 5 year old adventurer might not find the same good fortune.......

Easter Traditions

We had our 15th annual Easter Egg hunt here in the neighborhood for the kiddos. We've only been here 8 years - the Green's started it way back before we were here, and it is something we look forward to every year.

The kids love it - they all line up in the driveway and on the count of 3 - 1...2...3...It's off to the races! It was a bright and sunny morning, but all of the kids little fingers froze! "Who Cares!" they say - they're coming home with chocolate and candy up to their armpits! We all enjoy a big potluck breakfast in the middle of the neighborhood circle and the adults get to talk and catch up.

Here are the kids + 1 Easter morning. We had Ethan's buddy Harrison staying with us over the weekend while his mean parents left to go look for a house in Virginia. Dang them. This moving across the country thing has got to stop!! We'll miss them.....again. Emails, phone, just the girls' trips - they all help to keep the friendship strong - but we're still not happy about it. Only happy for their successes....

Eva's 1st Piano Recital

Eva had her first piano recital on February 22nd, 2008. I was so proud of her! She did such a beautiful job and really worked hard on her recital pieces. She has been taking lessons since September from a wonderful teacher - Juliet Smedley - who seems to be able to reach her. When mom tries to help with practicing, it usually isn't a smooth process. Eva likes to do it on her own terms, her own way, her own notes,(even if they don't exist). That is my Eva. She is determined, fiesty, decisive, knows what she wants, but with all of that, she can even be a bit shy, too.

The weeks leading up to her recital, Eva told me that she HAD to have a dress, she couldn't wear a skirt, because she had to be able to hold up the sides of the dress to curtsy. These things are very important to 8 year old girls, so we did end up finding her a dress that 'would allow oneself to curtsy properly'. Eva was the first to play - something I thought was very brave of her to do being a first time performer. Grandma and Grandpa Darrohn and her aunt Britter and friend Natalie all came to support her and to hear her play. It is awesome as a mom to see your child work hard and take pride in their accomplishments. Great Job my little Eva Diva. I love you!

Ski Day!

Skiing with Daddy?!!
What a great weekend we had! We put the kids in ski lessons back in December, but Kerry hasn't ever seen them ski. So he came up to the ski resort with us to watch the kiddos' improved skills. We loved having him up there with us - and it was fun to have little Becks there, too! They were really good sports - hung out in the not so luxe lodge and walked out to watch us all ski. I'm so glad Kerry was able to come, because it was great for him to see how the kids were doing and they liked to show off for their dad.
Wolf Mountain - It is the place for kids. Inexpensive, small , easy to keep track of everybody.
Ethan loves this place soley for 1 thing: The Magic Carpet. He likes to ride it up, more than he likes to ski down. He could do this over and over and over and over.. and he did.
Eva is doing fantastic!! She is a speed demon and has really been pretty independant. Last month we came with friends and I didn't see her half the time because she just wanted to go up the lift with her friends while I stayed and skied with Ethan. I can see us being great ski buddies in a few years - she is catching on quick and I think she has a crazy side to her!
Beckham had fun with mom. Kerry walked out with him to watch and I took him down the little practice area with me a few times, and up the magic carpet. He was cold - but he kept wanting to go again. He really wanted to ride up the lift with us.....Maybe next year.
If you gotta have winter, might as well Enjoy it! We're so happy to have our friends jumping on board these last few years.....Many fun times ahead!

Beck's strikes again and Dooders has a new fro

Here's the breakdown: I'm trying to shower but it is tricky becase I have a 2 year old opening and closing the shower door. I finally think of something to get him to leave so I can finish my shower w/out freezing, so I try it. I say, "Becks, let's go brush your teeth" -knowing full well that this makes him run far away from me as quickly as he can. It worked! Ah, peace. I'll finish my shower and then go find him. Becks finds me first smelling extra 'minty'. He tells me that he has just brushed his teeth! "Good Job" I start to say as look over and see mintiness on my couch, my floor, leading into the bathroom, all over the mirror, the sink, the cupboards, toilet, walls, and the entire bottom half of the back of the bathroom door. Definately not the first time, definately not the last with this kid. Here he is feeling pretty picked on because he had to take a bath after the little 'art' session.He is so dang fun and such a little sweet talker that he is getting away with it!!!

Kerry has signed Beckham up for baton twirling lessons - I keep telling Kerry that he can't live out his life and his dashed hopes and dreams through his child, but it's going in one ear and out the other.

Wow! He's starting to get it! Kerry couldn't be prouder. Next month: Clogging!
